CBA Academic Team Advances to State Tournament for 4th Consecutive Year
Corn Bible Academy hosted the Area Academic Meet on Saturday, and the Crusaders managed to fight through the consolation bracket to claim second place and an appearance at the State Tournament on next month.
CBA began the tournament competing against Verden, ultimately winning by a score of 250-100. Advancing to play Maysville in the semifinals, Corn saw their perfect season record come to an end, falling 180-220.
Facing elimination, the Crusaders bounced back in the third round, easily topping Big Pasture 210-90 before also defeating Granite and Cheyenne by scores of 210-120 and 180-100, respectively. With the final win, CBA secured a slot in the State Tournament for the fourth year in a row.
“It was a long day with five exciting skirmishes, but these persistent Crusaders fought their way to a place in the state competition,” said Coach Joyce Creed.
Senior Daniel Rempel and junior Chant Collins led CBA in scoring, each with 140 points on the day. Junior Kimberly Javorsky contributed 120 points, followed by junior Drew Geisler with 100 points.
The State Tournament will be held on February 3 at Redlands Community College in El Reno.
